1:400 Diecast: CAAC Airbus A300-600 B-2306 (YU Model YU31003)

B-2306 (MSN 521) was delivered on 24 November 1989 as an Airbus A300B4-605R — a rear-fuselage-stretch variant derived from the A310 aft section, adding 51 cm over the original A300B4. At delivery, the aircraft wore the transitional "CAAC hybrid" scheme: China Eastern Airlines cheatlines applied under the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) markings, reflecting the period when China's aviation industry was restructuring from a single state entity into separate regional carriers. B-2306 subsequently passed to full China Eastern Airlines operation and was converted to freighter configuration in April 2007, remaining in service through 2013.

Livery & Visual Detail

White fuselage with a distinctive four-band cheatline: thin navy, broad red, medium gold-orange, thin navy, running nose-to-tail. The bright red radome nose is a CAAC-era signature feature. Fuselage carries Chinese characters reading "Zhongguo Minhang" (Civil Aviation of China) in black above the cheatline, forward of the wing. The A300-600R aircraft type designation is printed aft of the cabin. Vertical stabilizer is white carrying the People's Republic of China flag — a red field with five yellow stars. Squared-off A300 wingtip fences (non-winglet generation). Twin CFM56-derived engine nacelles in light grey.

Model Craft & Collectibility

YU Model diecast metal at 1:400 (item YU31003). This is YU Model's inaugural A300 mould release — a brand-new tooling that entered the market in late 2025, noted by reviewers for superior wingjoin quality and aerials over earlier A300 moulds. The CAAC hybrid livery on B-2306 is a historically bounded transitional scheme that existed only during China's civil aviation restructuring of the late 1980s to early 1990s, making this a period-specific collector piece.
