9V-SGD is an Airbus A340-541, MSN 560, delivered to Singapore Airlines on 8 April 2004 and retired on 4 May 2014. The A340-500 entered SIA service to operate the world's longest non-stop commercial routes: Singapore–Los Angeles and Singapore–Newark, both exceeding 18 hours. The type was powered by four Rolls-Royce Trent 553 engines and carried no economy class — configured exclusively in Business and First class to maximize premium yield on ultra-long-range missions. 9V-SGD served the fleet for a decade before SIA transitioned ultra-long-range operations to the Boeing 777-200LR.

Livery & Visual Details

The fuselage is white above a distinctive dark blue and gold cheatline running the full length of the lower fuselage. "SINGAPORE AIRLINES" appears in large dark blue capitals on the forward fuselage, with "AIRBUS A340-300" printed beneath it in smaller text. The vertical stabilizer is solid dark blue bearing the iconic gold Silver Kris bird logo facing forward. A small Singapore flag is positioned aft of the forward door. Four engine nacelles are light grey with visible dark fan blades. Standard winglets in white with dark blue accents at the tips.
