D-ABYK — named "Rheinland-Pfalz" — is a Boeing 747-830 carrying MSN 37835. It ferried from Paine Field to Frankfurt on 13–14 August 2013 on delivery. In August 2016, Lufthansa selected this airframe to carry the German Olympic team home from the Rio Games, applying "Olympia Siegerflieger" special colours that ran August through December 2016. The scheme celebrated Germany's 17-gold-medal haul at Rio and was distinct from the earlier "Fanhansa Siegerflieger" scheme worn by D-ABYI during the 2014 FIFA World Cup. D-ABYK's four GEnx-2B67 turbofans produce the distinctive chevron exhaust pattern on every nacelle.

The fuselage is white with "Lufthansa" in dark blue on the forward upper cabin. "Siegerflieger" appears in orange-gold beside the airline name. Below it, a Paralympic rings-style logo and the German tricolor flag mark the aircraft's mission. "lufthansa.com" and the registration "D-ABYK" in dark blue sit on the lower aft fuselage. The dark-blue vertical stabilizer carries the yellow crane-in-circle logo with "TK" at the fin tip. Raked wingtips extend at the outer wing. All four GEnx-2B67 engine exhausts show chevron nozzles, a noise-reduction feature standard to the 747-8 powerplant.
