1:200 Diecast: Hi Fly Malta Airbus A380-841 9H-MIP "Save the Coral Reefs" (SQ Wings L2018)

9H-MIP (MSN 006) entered history as the world's first second-hand Airbus A380 when Hi Fly Malta acquired it in 2018. Originally built for Singapore Airlines and operated under registration 9V-SKC, the A380-841 was delivered new to Singapore in 2008. Hi Fly repositioned it into a global wet-lease role—and in early 2020, during the peak of pandemic cargo demand, it became the world's first A380 "preighter," flying with cabin seats removed to carry critical medical supplies across continents. The airframe wrapped operations in 2020 and has since remained stored.

Livery & Visual Details

The "Save the Coral Reefs" livery is a deliberate split scheme in collaboration with the Miri Marine Foundation. The port side carries a deep dark-blue lower fuselage with white silhouettes of fish, turtles, and coral formations; the starboard side reverses to a sky-blue lower hull with the same marine artwork. The vertical stabilizer displays a full coral-and-fish graphic in orange and red above the phrase "save the coral reefs" in white. Fuselage text includes "MIRI MARIN FOUNDATION," "MiriMarinFoundation.org," and the confrontational statement "Coral Reefs Gone By 2050" in white lettering. Engine nacelles are finished in deep dark blue with "Powered by Rolls-Royce" in white, confirming four Rolls-Royce Trent 970 engines. Wingtips are the A380's distinctive blended winglets in matching dark blue.

Model Craftsmanship & Collectible Value

SQ Wings L2018 is produced in solid diecast metal at 1:200 scale. The dual-sided livery reproduction requires separate tampo passes for port and starboard, making it one of the more production-intensive SQ Wings releases. This is the only 1:200 scale representation of 9H-MIP's coral livery commercially available.
