F-BTGV is the first Aero Spacelines B-377SGT Super Guppy Turbine ever built, carrying constructor's number 001. Converted from a Boeing 377 Stratocruiser airframe, it first flew on August 24, 1970. Operated jointly by Aeromaritime and Airbus Industrie from 1971 until retirement in 1996, F-BTGV was purpose-built to ferry oversized Airbus aircraft sections — wings, fuselage barrels, and tail units — between production facilities in France, Germany, Spain, and the UK. The Super Guppy Turbine's distinctive bulbous fuselage was designed around a hinged nose that swings open to accept loads too wide for any conventional freighter. F-BTGV was powered by four Allison 501-D22C turboprops.

Livery & Visual Details

The model shows the aircraft in its distinctive Airbus Industrie / Aeromaritime scheme: a highly polished chrome-silver fuselage with a thick red horizontal stripe and a thinner yellow stripe running the full length from nose to tail. The entire vertical stabilizer is yellow, carrying a large circular Aeromaritime logo in red and orange. "AIRBUS INDUSTRIE" and "AEROMARITIME" appear in black on the forward fuselage. Registration F-BTGV is visible in black near the aft fuselage. The four-blade turboprop engines have dark blade sets with light grey spinners. The nose section shows the seam line of the hinged cargo door.

Produced by SQ Wings at 1:200 scale, item number L2058, cast in diecast metal. The Super Guppy's unmistakable silhouette makes it one of the most visually striking models in any 1:200 collection. At 21.92 cm length and 23.82 cm wingspan, the model captures the aircraft's wide-body-plus proportions accurately. F-BTGV is the only surviving Super Guppy Turbine in documented Aeromaritime/Airbus livery.
