1:200 Diecast: Cathay Pacific Cargo Boeing 747-8F B-LJA "Hong Kong Trader" (SQ Wings L2074)

B-LJA is the first Boeing 747-8F delivered to Cathay Pacific, arriving on 15 November 2011 from Paine Field (PAE) to Hong Kong. It carries MSN 39238 / Line Number 1427 and is powered by four GEnx-2B67 turbofans — the same powerplant family fitted to the 747-8 Intercontinental. Cathay named it the "Hong Kong Trader," a deliberate tribute to the airline's very first 747-200 freighter of the same name and to Hong Kong's centuries-old trading heritage. The aircraft held that title until August 2018, when the special colours were retired.

Livery & Visual Details

The forward fuselage is white/light grey. From roughly mid-ship rearward, the skin transitions to vibrant turquoise, with a dissolving mosaic of pale-blue tiles at the colour boundary. "CATHAY PACIFIC Cargo" appears in dark teal on the forward fuselage. "HONG KONG TRADER" is printed in white on the turquoise section, with a detailed Hong Kong skyline silhouette below it extending forward along the aft fuselage. The Cathay brushwing logo dominates the dark-teal tail. Raked wingtips at the wing extremities are standard 747-8 architecture. No passenger windows — full main-deck freighter configuration.

Model Craft & Collectability

SQ Wings renders this 1:200 diecast in metal at 38.15 cm × 34.25 cm, matching the 747-8F's 68.4 m wingspan compressed to scale. B-LJA holds multiple firsts: first Cathay 747-8 delivered, first to wear the Hong Kong Trader title, and the only 747-8F in the Cathay fleet to launch in this scheme. It operates to this day as an active cargo aircraft for Cathay Cargo.
