1:200 Diecast: CAAC Boeing 747-2J6B(M) B-2446 "Piggyback Carrier" (SQ Wings L2083)
B-2446 stands apart from every 747 in this scale. MSN 23071, line number 591, rolled out of Everett and first flew on December 6, 1983, delivered to the Civil Aviation Administration of China the same month powered by Pratt & Whitney JT9D-7R4G2 turbofans. The aircraft served CAAC until July 1, 1988, when the fleet transferred to the newly formed Air China. Later in its career B-2446 was modified into the 747-2J6B(M) configuration — the "M" suffix denoting its role as a dedicated carrier aircraft for Chinese aerospace research programs, notably associated with the piggyback transport of fighter prototype airframes. That unique history is the reason collectors seek this registration above all other CAAC 747s.
SQ Wings executed the livery precisely. The upper fuselage is bright white, divided by a wide blue horizontal stripe running the length of the window line. The registration B-2446 sits in black above the stripe, aft of the wing. Chinese characters reading "Zhongguo Minhang" (Civil Aviation of China) appear on the mid-fuselage above the blue band. The vertical stabilizer carries the red-field national flag of the People's Republic of China with its five gold stars — CAAC's iconic tail marking of that era. Engine nacelles wear a polished metallic silver finish consistent with JT9D cowlings of the early 1980s. No winglets — the 747SP-derived short upper-deck profile confirms this is the standard -2J6B combi variant. All four landing gear bogies are deployed.
The defining feature of this model is the smaller grey aircraft mounted dorsally on the fuselage spine — the piggyback payload replica. That detail elevates the model from a standard CAAC 747 into a documented historical artifact in 1:200 form.
