HL8597 holds a singular place in Korean Air's history: it is the carrier's first Airbus A350-941, MSN 681, ferried from Toulouse-Blagnac to Gimhae on 30 December 2024 and placed into commercial service on 27 January 2025. Airbus built the airframe to the -941 variant — the standard A350-900 powered by two Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-84 turbofans — and Korean Air ordered the type to replace aging Boeing 747-400 widebodies on long-haul sectors. MSN 681 arrived without a named sub-fleet title but carried notable media attention as Korean Air's first widebody delivery following its absorption of Asiana Airlines assets.

Livery & Visual Details

Phoenix renders HL8597 in Korean Air's current livery: Korean Air Blue covers the upper fuselage and tail fin from nose to tail cone, separated from the silver-grey belly by a polished silver cheatline. The forward fuselage carries the red-and-blue Taegeuk logo followed by "KOREAN AIR" in dark blue capitals, with "대한항공" in matching Korean script immediately below — both reproduced as tampo-printed text. The tail fin displays the enlarged Taegeuk symbol centred within a white-bordered blue circle. Each engine nacelle carries a smaller Taegeuk logo on its forward section. Wingtips are the A350's characteristic integrated raked blended tips — not sharklets — sweeping upward and aft as a continuous surface. Engine nacelles are light grey with metallic intake lips. Registration HL8597 is printed in dark blue on the underside of the left wing and repeated on the aft fuselage.
