A4O-LE (MSN 103) entered EgyptAir service on 13 October 1995, one of the first Airbus A340s delivered to an African or Middle Eastern carrier. The Omani registration prefix A4O- reflects the aircraft's financing structure — the frame was registered in Oman and operated by EgyptAir under a lease arrangement, a common practice for Gulf-region aircraft acquisitions in the 1990s. After less than two years in EgyptAir service, A4O-LE departed the fleet on 2 July 1997, later appearing in Gulf Air colors. The window of authentic EgyptAir operation makes this a historically specific collectible.

Livery & Visual Details

The model displays EgyptAir's classic livery from the mid-1990s: a white fuselage marked by a prominent red horizontal stripe with a thinner gold stripe directly above it, both lines curving upward as they approach the tail. "EGYPTAIR" appears in English alongside its Arabic equivalent "مصر للطيران" on the forward fuselage. The vertical stabilizer carries EgyptAir's signature emblem — a stylized golden head of Horus enclosed in a red and gold circular motif against a white field. The nose radome is black. All four engines are fitted in white nacelles with red and gold exhaust detailing that echoes the fuselage cheatline. The wings and horizontal stabilizers are finished in light grey.

Phoenix item PH11811 renders A4O-LE in 1:400 diecast metal at 15.93 cm length. The A340-300's four-engine configuration and long fuselage are clearly represented. The 1990s EgyptAir livery with the Horus emblem is considered by many collectors a more visually striking iteration of the airline's identity than later rebrands, adding to the model's appeal.
