1:200 Diecast: Ukrainian Air Force Tupolev Tu-134UBL Bort 42 (Patriot Models PT200008)
Bort 42 (serial 64300) was a Tupolev Tu-134UBL operated by the Ukrainian Air Force from Poltava Air Base (UKHL), where it served as a crew trainer for Tu-22M Backfire bomber pilots. The UBL variant grafts the elongated nose of the Tupolev Tu-22M3 onto a Tu-134 fuselage to replicate the bomber's cockpit geometry in a more economical training platform. Bort 42 was documented at Poltava as late as 2019 and is preserved at the Long Range Strategic Aviation Museum at Poltava.
Livery & Visual Details
The model depicts a light grey upper fuselage with the red serial number "42" prominently displayed on the lower-rear fuselage. A horizontal red stripe runs along the mid-fuselage from the nose — widening to a broad triangular shape at the cockpit — with red accents on the wingtips and horizontal stabilizer leading edges. The tail carries a yellow circular emblem on the vertical stabilizer. The two Soloviev D-30 turbofan engines are mounted in the characteristic rear-fuselage pod configuration of the Tu-134 family. Standard straight wingtips without winglets. The extended, drooping Tu-22M3-style nose is faithfully reproduced.
Model Craft & Collectibility
Patriot Models PT200008 is a 1:200 diecast reproduction of a niche subject — the Tu-134UBL is a small-batch military derivative never operated by commercial airlines. The model comes with a display stand and captures the grafted-nose configuration unique to the UBL crew trainer variant. Few Western-market releases exist for this type.
