HL8597 (MSN 681, test reg F-WZFU) first flew on December 4, 2024, and was delivered to Korean Air on December 30, 2024—making it the carrier's second A350-900 ever accepted and part of Korean Air's inaugural pair of A350s. The aircraft departed Toulouse-Blagnac as flight KAL996D and entered service on routes from Seoul Incheon in early 2025. Previously, HL8598 (MSN 689) had been delivered three days earlier on December 27, 2024, as the very first Korean Air A350. HL8597 is configured in a three-class layout with 28 business, 36 premium economy, and 247 economy seats. Engines are Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-84.
Livery & Visual Details
The model carries Korean Air's current livery: light blue upper fuselage transitioning to white on the belly, separated by a narrow dark blue stripe running the fuselage length. "KOREAN AIR" in bold dark blue capitals occupies the forward fuselage, preceded by the stylized red yin-yang taegeuk "K" logo. The tail fin displays the red-over-blue taegeuk mark with three curved white stripes sweeping rearward. The A350's characteristic upswept, scimitar-style raked wingtips are reproduced in light grey, visually distinct from traditional sharklets. Both engine nacelles feature a small Korean Air taegeuk logo on the outboard face. Registration HL8597 appears aft of the wing.
