1:200 Diecast: USAF Boeing 737-7FD C-40B "20042" (NG Models NG05008)
Serial 02-0042, known by its alternate identifier 20042, carries MSN 33500 (Line Number 1223) — one of the Boeing 737-7FD C-40B Clippers built for the United States Air Force as a direct replacement for the ageing C-137 fleet assigned to combatant commanders worldwide. The airframe first flew on 25 September 2003 and was delivered to the 89th Airlift Wing at Joint Base Andrews, Maryland in December 2004. The C-40B variant is distinct from the baseline C-40A in its mission-specific fit: broadband satellite communications, secure voice and data uplinks, an onboard LAN, and a distinguished visitor sleeping compartment — making it an "office in the sky" for senior USAF and DoD leadership. The aircraft combines the Boeing 737-700 fuselage with the strengthened wing and landing gear of the 737-800, inherited from the Boeing Business Jet (BBJ) platform.
Livery & Visual Details
The model replicates the standard USAF C-40B high-gloss white scheme. A single thin dark-blue stripe runs the full horizontal length of the fuselage, positioned immediately below the cabin window row. The vertical stabilizer is plain white — no squadron badge or flag marking visible on this serial. Horizontal stabilizers are rendered in light silver-gray, matching the wing upper surfaces, with panel-line detail in a darker gray tone. The winglets are the blended type — the characteristic upswept profile shared with Boeing Business Jet derivatives — finished in the same silver-gray as the wings. Engine nacelles are white overall with metallic silver inlet lips and dark fan face detail, accurately depicting the CFM56-7B24 pods. A red anti-collision beacon is represented on the dorsal mid-fuselage spine.
Model Craft & Collectibility
NG Models produces this C-40B on a dedicated 1:200 737-700/BBJ mould with blended winglets — a separate tooling from the standard 737-700 Sharklet release. Item number NG05008 is a single-release SKU targeting collectors focused on USAF transport and special-air-mission subjects. The diecast alloy construction delivers firm, display-shelf weight. No stand is included in the standard packaging.
