1:400 Diecast: RAAF Royal Australian Air Force Boeing 737 MAX 8 BBJ A62-001 (NG Models NG88035)

A62-001 carries MSN 67959, line number 8532, built as a Boeing 737-8 MAX Boeing Business Jet. The aircraft flew its first flight on 25 February 2023 under the test registration N786BJ, underwent outfitting in Basel, and was delivered to the Royal Australian Air Force via Dallas Love Field and Honolulu on 12 July 2024, touching down at Canberra. Assigned to No. 34 Squadron based at Defence Establishment Fairbairn, it operates as a Special Purpose Aircraft for VIP and government transport alongside its sister ship A62-002.

Livery & Visual Details

The model presents the standard RAAF scheme: gloss white upper fuselage, with a thick blue lower-fuselage stripe running from near the nose and sweeping upward towards the tail cone, bordered above by a thinner red stripe. "ROYAL AUSTRALIAN AIR FORCE" is printed in red capitals along the mid-fuselage above the stripe. A small RAAF roundel—red kangaroo on a blue disc—sits on the forward fuselage below the cockpit windows. The vertical stabilizer carries the Australian national flag near the top and the serial "A62-001" in black below it. The radome is medium grey. A satellite communication antenna dome is mounted on the upper forward fuselage in dark grey. Wing LEAP-1B engines have white nacelles with no chevron nozzles, and the distinctive split-tip winglets of the MAX series are visible at each wingtip. Landing gear is deployed with rolling wheels.

Model Craft & Collectibility

NG Models NG88035 uses the manufacturer's 737 MAX mould, capturing the split-tip winglet profile that distinguishes the MAX from the NG series. A62-001 is the first of only two 737 MAX BBJs operated by the RAAF, replacing older 737-700 airframes.
