While Qatar Airways initially planned to phase out the Airbus A330-300 fleet, this aircraft became a "survivor" due to the high-profile A350 surface degradation dispute, which forced the airline to extend the service life of its reliable A330s. Delivered in 2005, A7-AEE continues to bridge high-demand regional routes, often operating under the premium "Regional First Class" service designation.

The QR881 Legend & ETOPS Reliability: This A330-302 is powered by high-thrust General Electric CF6-80E1A4 engines, a critical factor in its ETOPS-180 operational capability. This reliability was tested during the famous QR881 diversion on April 30, 2019. En route from Chongqing to Doha, a mechanical issue required a heavy-weight hold over India—circling 10 times to burn fuel since the A330 lacks a fuel jettison system—before a safe recovery in Mumbai.
