1:400 Diecast: PLAAF Xian Y-20B Kunpeng 20341 (NG Models NG22025)

Serial 20341 is a Xian Y-20B Kunpeng, the re-engined variant of China's strategic airlifter fitted with the domestically developed WS-20 high-bypass turbofan in place of the earlier D-30KP-2 powerplants. The Y-20B designation marks a meaningful capability step: the WS-20's higher bypass ratio delivers improved fuel efficiency and reduced acoustic signature over the prototype fleet. Service entry of Y-20B-configured aircraft with the PLAAF was reported in 2023, with serials in the 20340-range among the early confirmed examples.

Livery & Visual Details

The model wears the standard PLAAF low-visibility scheme: overall dark matte grey covering fuselage, wings, and nacelles, with polished silver leading edges on wings and horizontal stabilizers. Serial "20341" is rendered on the lower aft fuselage in light grey. Three PLAAF insignia—the five-pointed star within a gear-ring emblem—appear on the upper wing surfaces and the vertical fin. The four WS-20 nacelles are finished in matching dark grey with silver intake lips. The model is depicted in-flight configuration: landing gear retracted, clean belly. Wingtips are blunt, square-cut, consistent with the actual Y-20 design.

NG Models produces Y-20 and Y-20B variants under separate item numbers, allowing collectors to distinguish between the original D-30-powered airframes and the WS-20 re-engined fleet by mold. The 1:400 scale captures the high-wing, T-tail profile that sets the Kunpeng apart from all commercial widebody molds in the same scale. NG22025 represents one of the first Y-20B serials offered in this scale with individual tail number identification.
