1:400 Diecast: PLAAF Xian Y-20 Kunpeng 20048 (NG Models NG22020)

Serial 20048 is a Xian Y-20A heavy military transport assigned to the PLAAF's 13th Transport Division, 37th Air Regiment, based at Kaifeng. The Y-20 Kunpeng is China's first indigenously developed strategic airlifter, cleared for service in July 2016. The "20" series serials identify aircraft in the initial production batch equipped with the imported Soloviev D-30KP-2 engines — the same powerplant used on the IL-76 — before the domestic WS-20 entered production integration on later units.

Livery & Visual Details

The model renders the standard PLAAF operational scheme: matte dark blue-grey covering the complete airframe including fuselage, wings, and tail surfaces. The vertical stabilizer carries the Chinese national flag as a fin flash — red field with one large and four smaller yellow stars. PLAAF roundels in red with centered yellow five-pointed star appear on the upper wing surfaces. Serial 20048 is marked in light grey on the fuselage below the tail. The four engines are mounted in underwing pods with the longer, slender nacelle profile characteristic of the D-30KP-2. Silver metallic accents on wing leading edges and engine fronts. The Y-20's distinctive high-mounted wing, T-tail, and wide-body fuselage cross-section are visible in the mold geometry.

NG Models NG22020 is one of a series of PLAAF Y-20 releases at 1:400 scale, each documenting a different serial in the fleet. The 20048 serial places this in the early D-30KP-2-powered production run, distinguishing it from later WS-20-equipped airframes. Diecast metal construction.
