1:400 Diecast: Lufthansa Boeing 747-830 D-ABYM "5 Starhansa" (NG Models NG78011)

D-ABYM carries MSN 37837 (line number 1494) and was delivered to Lufthansa on 28 February 2014, named "Bayern" in service. In December 2017, following Lufthansa's achievement of a Skytrax 5-Star Airline rating — the first European full-service carrier to earn the designation — the airline selected D-ABYM as one of two aircraft to receive the commemorative "5 Starhansa" special livery. The aircraft wore this scheme from December 2017 through September 2018.

Livery & Visual Details

The model depicts the "5 Starhansa" scheme over the standard Lufthansa white fuselage: a dark blue vertical stabilizer bearing the classic Lufthansa yellow crane-in-circle logo, and prominently on the forward upper fuselage, the inscription "5 Star hansa" — "5 Star" rendered in gold, "hansa" in dark blue — accompanied by five gold stars and the Lufthansa wordmark beneath. A small Star Alliance logo appears forward of the wing root. The registration "D-ABYM" is printed in black on the forward fuselage, and a small German flag is present above it. The four GEnx-2B67 engines have white nacelles with metallic intakes. Raked wingtips extend the 747-8's characteristic swept wing profile.

NG Models item NG78011 renders the 747-830 fuselage with the extended upper deck distinctive to the -8 series. The "5 Starhansa" scheme lasted less than a year on D-ABYM before the aircraft returned to standard colors, making this livery configuration a historically bounded collector's subject.
