1:400 Diecast: Korean Air Boeing 747-8 HL7638 (NG Models NG78042)

HL7638 is a Boeing 747-8B5, MSN 60408. The aircraft completed its first flight on 26 April 2016 and was delivered to Korean Air on 26 May 2016. Powered by four General Electric GEnx-2B67 engines, HL7638 operates Korean Air's high-frequency trunk routes from Seoul Incheon International Airport. The 747-8 family introduced an extended upper deck relative to the 747-400—stretching the main hump from just behind the nose to the wing leading edge—along with raked wingtips and the GEnx engine series. Korean Air remains one of the largest operators of the 747-8 passenger variant globally. NG Models item NG78042 documents HL7638 at 1:400 scale.

Livery & Visual Details

The model presents the Korean Air livery applied to the 747-8 airframe. The upper fuselage—including the extended upper deck hump—is a distinctive sky blue, transitioning to white on the lower fuselage below a crisp horizontal demarcation line. "KOREAN" is printed in large dark blue lettering on the forward mid-fuselage below the window line, with "KOREAN AIR" and the registration HL7638 on the rear fuselage. The iconic Korean Air Taegeuk logo, a stylised circular symbol in dark blue, is displayed on both the vertical stabilizer and on the side of each GEnx engine nacelle. Registration HL7638 also appears on the upper wing surface. The four GEnx nacelles are white-grey; the extended upper deck profile and the raked wingtips are immediately visible features that distinguish the 747-8 from the 747-400.

Model Craftsmanship & Collectibility

NG Models renders the 747-8 in diecast metal at 1:400, capturing the stretched upper deck profile, the GEnx engine nacelle geometry, and the characteristic raked wingtips that set the 747-8 apart from earlier 747 variants. Korean Air operates the 747-8 in both its passenger and freighter configurations; HL7638 is a passenger 747-8B5 (Intercontinental). At a model wingspan of 17.13 cm, the 747-8's 68.4-metre real-world wingspan translates directly into a noticeably wider shelf footprint than the 747-400.
