F-WBXL is the first BelugaXL ever built — MSN 1824, the aircraft that made the type's maiden flight on 19 July 2018 from Toulouse-Blagnac. Developed to succeed the original Beluga ST fleet, the A330-743L BelugaXL carries a payload volume roughly 30% greater than its predecessor, engineered to transport A350 XWB wing sets that were too large for the earlier type. F-WBXL completed the full certification campaign, earning EASA type approval on 13 November 2019 before entering revenue service with Airbus Transport International.

Livery & Visual Details

The model replicates the distinctive primer/prototype livery worn by F-WBXL during its flight test program: the enormous dorsal fuselage is rendered in a matte light green, representing the bare epoxy primer applied before final house colors. "BELUGA XL" is printed in black letters across the nose of the bulbous forward fuselage, with smaller "AIRBUS" branding below. The massive vertical stabilizer carries an artistic whale-skin motif in blue and white abstract waves — the characteristic BelugaXL tail art. The model carries blended winglets in grey with yellow leading-edge strips, and two large CFM56-derived turbofan nacelles hang under low-mounted wings. The lower fuselage transitions to light blue. A red cross maintenance marking is visible on the port engine nacelle.

Model Craft & Collectibility

NG Models NG60020 reproduces the A330-743L on a dedicated widebody mold capturing the type's unique double-deck profile: the enlarged cargo fuselage atop the narrower lower belly, the drooping nose with cockpit windows set unusually low, and the high-mounted horizontal stabilizers. This release documents the prototype livery — distinct from the later production aircraft which wear the standard Airbus white and blue house scheme.
