The airframe made its first flight on 17 January 2025 and ferried Charleston–Taipei on 11–12 February 2025 before entering EVA Air service on 18 February 2025. This makes B-17887 one of EVA Air's most recently delivered 787-9s at the time of this model's release, adding to the carrier's already large Dreamliner fleet serving transpacific and European routes from Taipei Taoyuan.
