N16709 (MSN 28779, line number 93) was delivered to Continental Airlines on 31 August 1998, entering service as one of the carrier's early 737-700 acquisitions. When Continental merged with United Airlines and the combined fleet was formally integrated on 30 November 2011, N16709 transferred directly to United's operating certificate — it continues in active revenue service with United as of this writing, having outlasted the Continental brand by well over a decade.
