The aircraft operates out of Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport on China Southern's medium and long-haul network.

The special "787th Boeing 787" livery combines a dynamic blue and white wave-and-feather pattern across the lower fuselage with the airline's standard sky-blue tail carrying the red kapok flower logo.
