1:200 Diecast: AVIC AG600M Kunlong B-0FAS (NG Models NG66006)

Registration B-0FAS belongs to the AG600M Kunlong series — the firefighting-optimized variant of China's AVIC AG600, the world's largest amphibious aircraft by maximum takeoff weight. The AG600M secured its type certificate from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) on April 20, 2025, followed by production certification on June 11, 2025 — completing a development programme that logged 3,560 flight hours across 2,014 sorties. AVIC assembled the aircraft at its General Huanan Aircraft Industry facility in Zhuhai, Guangdong. Four domestically produced WJ-6 turboprop engines, each rated at 3,805 kW (5,103 shp) and driving six-bladed constant-speed propellers, power the type — an adaptation of the Ivchenko AI-20 design. The AG600M can scoop 12 tonnes of water in approximately 20 seconds and deliver up to 120 tonnes across a sortie.

Livery & Visual Detail

The model replicates B-0FAS in the standard AVIC AG600M delivery scheme: white upper fuselage with a bold red cheatline running the full length of the hull, red vertical stabilizer carrying the Chinese characters reading "鲲龙" (Kunlong) alongside the AVIC roundel. The single-hull flying boat lower body is rendered in bare metal grey. Four WJ-6 engines sit on high-mounted cantilever wings with raked tips. Wingtip floats — each over four metres long on the real aircraft — are reproduced in the same white-over-grey finish. The Chinese characters reading "B-0FAS" are tampo-printed on the forward fuselage in black.

Model Craft & Collectibility

NG Models produced NG66006 in 1:200 scale diecast alloy — the correct scale to place the AG600M's 38.8-metre wingspan at approximately 19.4 cm on the bench. The AG600M sits outside the usual airliner subject pool; very few manufacturers have tooled a dedicated AG600M mould at this scale. For collectors tracking China's three state-approved major aircraft programmes — the Y-20, the C919, and the AG600 — this release documents the third pillar of that triad.
