N589AA carries MSN 53252 (line number 1910) and was delivered to American Airlines on September 16, 1991. The MD-83 is the extended-range, higher-thrust member of the MD-80 family, fitted with Pratt & Whitney JT8D-219 engines. N589AA operated American's domestic network for nearly three decades before retirement on September 4, 2019, when the airframe was ferried to Roswell (ROW) for storage; it subsequently transferred to Jet Midwest Group and US Aviation Corp for parting. Livery & Visual Details

The fuselage carries American's classic polished natural-metal scheme, achieved through a highly reflective silver finish on the model. A red stripe runs above a dark blue stripe as a continuous cheatline from the blue-tipped nose to the tail. "American" is rendered in stylized red script on the forward fuselage. A small American flag decal is visible below the cockpit windows within the blue stripe. Registration N589AA appears in black near the aft fuselage. The AA logo — dark blue double-A characters with a red bar — occupies the vertical stabilizer. Wings and the T-tail horizontal stabilizers are light grey. Two rear-fuselage-mounted engines have cylindrical light-grey nacelles with dark intakes. Wingtips are conventional flat-cut with no extensions.
