1:400 Diecast: Air China Boeing 777-200 B-2060 "Red Phoenix Liner" (NG Models NG72056)

Registration B-2060, MSN 29154 (Line Number 173), was delivered to Air China on 30 October 1998 as a Boeing 777-2J6. The airframe carried the carrier through nearly two decades of service, accumulating routes across Asia, Europe, and North America. In February 2009, the aircraft was repainted in the "Red Phoenix Liner" special livery — one of the most elaborate schemes ever applied to an Air China widebody. B-2060 was stored at Beijing Capital in late 2017 and ferried to Pinal Airpark, Arizona in January 2018, where it was scrapped in March 2022. The Red Phoenix Liner livery did not survive to see another aircraft; B-2060 was its sole carrier.

Livery & Visual Details

The livery divides the fuselage with a deep red lower half separated from a white upper section by a gold stripe edged in white. Intricate swirling cloud-and-peony motifs in white and gold cover the red fuselage — a design drawn from classical Chinese decorative tradition. "AIR CHINA" appears in large black sans-serif letters on the white upper fuselage, with the Chinese characters reading Zhongguo Guoji Hangkong below. The iconic Air China phoenix logo in red occupies the vertical stabilizer. The wing tips are classic unmodified tips without winglets. Twin Pratt & Whitney PW4077-powered engine nacelles are finished in white.

Model Craft & Collectibility

NG Models produced NG72056 in diecast metal at 1:400 scale. The 777-2J6 mould captures the aircraft's distinctive low fuselage stance, wide-chord GE90-class nacelles, and six-wheel main bogies. The Red Phoenix Liner scheme is presented in the "Ultimate" finish edition, with sharply defined gold striping and fuselage artwork. B-2060 was scrapped, making this model the permanent record of a livery with no surviving airframe.
