1:400 Diecast: Air China Comac C919 B-919X (NG Models). This is history in miniature. On August 28, 2024, at COMAC's final assembly center in Shanghai Pudong, Air China took delivery of its first C919—registration B-919X. The next day, August 29, it ferried to Beijing Capital Airport and was greeted with a water cannon salute. Why all the fuss? Because this is the first C919 ever painted with the Chinese flag on its fuselage, marking Air China's role as the nation's flag carrier.
The C919 is China's answer to the Airbus A320neo and Boeing 737 MAX—the first domestically developed narrowbody airliner. Air China placed an order for 100 of them in April 2024, with deliveries scheduled through 2031. B-919X is the extended-range variant, with a maximum takeoff weight of 78.9 tons, engine thrust of 30,000 pounds, and a range of 2,000 nautical miles (3,704 kilometers). Inside, it seats 158 passengers (8 business, 150 economy) with wider seat pitch than the standard configuration.
As of 2025, nine C919s have been delivered: seven to China Eastern, plus B-919X to Air China, and B-919J to China Southern. The fleet has accumulated over 10,000 flight hours and carried more than 500,000 passengers with 15+ months of safe operation. EU certification is targeted for 2025, which would open up international routes.
NG Models' 1:400 C919 releases are notoriously hard to find—they sell out fast. B-919X is particularly special as the flag carrier's first C919 and the only one with the Chinese flag on the fuselage. If you collect modern Chinese aviation, this is the one.
