1:400 Diecast: Virgin Atlantic Boeing 747-4Q8 G-VHOT "Hot Lips" (JC Wings XX40225)
G-VHOT (MSN 26326, Line Number 1043) is a Boeing 747-4Q8 that completed its first flight on 26 September 1994. The aircraft carried the Virgin Atlantic fleet name "Hot Lips" and operated transatlantic routes until Virgin Atlantic retired its entire 747 fleet in May 2020, a decision accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic. As a 747-4Q8, G-VHOT was powered by four General Electric CF6-80C2B1F turbofans — distinct from the Rolls-Royce RB211-powered 747-41R variants that made up the other portion of Virgin's jumbo fleet.
Livery & Visual Detail
The model carries Virgin Atlantic's signature scheme. The upper fuselage is white; the vertical stabilizer and all four engine nacelles are painted glossy red. A dark blue pinstripe separates the white fuselage from the red aft section. "virgin atlantic" appears in dark blue lowercase script along the mid-fuselage. The tail displays the white "Virgin" script logo. Forward of the cockpit, the iconic "Flying Lady" nose art — a female figure in a Union Jack pose — is present, with "Hot Lips" name lettering below. Small Union Jack flags are visible near the cockpit and on the raked wingtips. No chevron nozzles on the CF6 exhausts. Landing gear extended in available product images.
Model Craft & Collectibility
JC Wings produced XX40225 in 1:400 scale diecast metal. The 747-400 mould replicates the raked wingtip devices of the -400 series. G-VHOT "Hot Lips" models represent the final chapter of Virgin Atlantic's 747 operations, a fleet that ran for over three decades before COVID-19 ended it abruptly in 2020.
