1:200 Diecast: Virgin Atlantic Boeing 747-400 G-VBIG "Tinker Belle" (JC Wings XX20459)
G-VBIG — named "Tinker Belle" — carries MSN 26255, a Boeing 747-4Q8 delivered to Virgin Atlantic on 10 June 1996. The aircraft flew transatlantic routes from Heathrow before joining the Gatwick-based fleet, operating leisure routes to the Caribbean and Florida. Withdrawn from service in November 2019 as the airline retired its 747 fleet, Tinker Belle was broken up in May 2020. MSN 26255 logged over two decades of Virgin Atlantic service, making it one of the longer-serving 747s in the carrier's history.
Livery & Visual Details
The model wears Virgin Atlantic's classic scheme: gloss-white upper fuselage with a bold dark blue stripe separating it from the light grey-silver underside. The vertical stabiliser is solid bright red, carrying a large white stylised "Virgin" wordmark. Four engine nacelles are painted in matching red. Winglets at each wingtip are also red, each displaying a miniature "Virgin" logo and a Union Jack flag. Forward of the main entry door, below the cockpit windows, the nose art depicts the "Flying Lady" motif — a reclining female figure in flowing red fabric against a Union Jack, positioned above the name "Tinker Belle" in black script. The forward fuselage carries "virgin atlantic" in lowercase blue lettering. Registration G-VBIG is printed in black on the aft fuselage above the blue stripe.
Model Craftsmanship & Collector Value
JC Wings released this as XX20459 at 1:200 scale in diecast metal. G-VBIG "Tinker Belle" is among the most named and documented of Virgin Atlantic's 747 fleet, with a confirmed retirement and destruction record that closes its operational chapter. The classic 1996-era Virgin livery with full nose art, red engines, and red winglets requires paint-layer precision not replicated in any generic Virgin 747 tooling. Model dimensions: 35.34 cm length × 32.22 cm wingspan.
