1:400 Diecast: United Airlines Boeing 747SP N532PA (JC Wings). This aircraft began life as the third 747SP ever built, first flying on September 10, 1975 in Boeing's red-white-blue test colours. Delivered to Pan Am on March 29, 1976 as 'Clipper Constitution', it later became famous for being chartered by rock band Kiss during their Japan tour—renamed 'Clipper Kiss' for the occasion.

Pan Am to United: In April 1985, United bought Pan Am's entire Pacific Division for $750 million, taking over its routes and aircraft. N532PA transferred to United on February 11, 1986, initially flying with its original Pan Am cheatline and an all-white tail before acquiring United's full livery. It was re-registered as N142UA on August 1, 1986, and by 1988 wore the airline's 'rainbow' colours.

Final years: After 79,412 flight hours and 10,590 cycles, N142UA was withdrawn from use in 1995 and scrapped at Ardmore, Oklahoma in early 1998. This aircraft had carried two major airlines' colours, hosted a rock band, and helped establish the 747SP's reputation for ultra-long-haul performance.

About this model: JC Wings released N532PA (item JC4960) in 1:400 scale capturing the aircraft in its United 'blue stripe' livery with polished metal finish and antenna detail. At 14.08 cm long with a 14.91 cm wingspan, it represents the distinctive shortened 747SP that served both Pan Am and United across the Pacific.
