9V-SGB is an Airbus A340-541, MSN 499, delivered to Singapore Airlines on 12 January 2004. The airline named the aircraft "Leadership" — one of the named vessels in SIA's long-haul widebody fleet. The A340-500 entered service with Singapore Airlines on the world's longest commercial routes at the time, including the non-stop Singapore–New York and Singapore–Los Angeles services operated under the "Singapore Airlines SQ21/22" branding. 9V-SGB retired from service and was stored from September 2013, with the airframe eventually scrapped in August 2020.

Livery & Visual Detail

JC Wings renders the classic Singapore Airlines livery: white upper fuselage with a continuous dark blue cheatline at window level and a narrow gold stripe immediately below, both running the full fuselage length. "SINGAPORE AIRLINES" in dark blue capitals sits above the gold stripe on the forward section. A small Singapore national flag — red over white, with crescent and five stars — is placed to the left of the airline name. The name "LEADERSHIP" appears in white near the nose below the cockpit window. Registration "9V-SGB" in gold-orange mirrors the stripe color on the aft fuselage. The dark navy tail fin carries the iconic Sarong Kebaya bird emblem in gold. All four Rolls-Royce Trent 553 engine nacelles are light grey, underslung on the low-mounted wing in the characteristic A340 four-engine quad layout.

The A340-500 had one of the shortest commercial service spans of any Singapore Airlines widebody — the ultra-long-range quad was retired as fuel costs made non-stop ultra-long flights economically unviable before the 787 and A350 could take over. 9V-SGB at "Leadership" represents a specific named airframe from that brief epoch of quad-engine ultra-long-haul operations.
