1:200 Diecast: Lufthansa Airbus A340-313 D-AIGV "Star Alliance" (JC Wings XX20151)
D-AIGV is an Airbus A340-313 with MSN 325, delivered to Lufthansa in 2000 and named "Dinslaken" — one of the German city names in Lufthansa's traditional naming convention. The aircraft operates four CFM56-5C4 engines in the standard A340-300 wing-mounted arrangement. D-AIGV carries the Star Alliance special livery, one of the promotional schemes applied by Lufthansa to select long-haul aircraft to mark the airline's founding membership in the Star Alliance, formed in May 1997. In October 2023, D-AIGV diverted back to Frankfurt shortly after departure on a Chennai-bound service due to engine issues, an incident documented in aviation media.
Livery & Visual Details
The model replicates the Star Alliance promotional livery: an all-white fuselage with "STAR ALLIANCE" printed in large black capital letters composed of small dots across the forward-to-mid fuselage section — a distinctive dot-matrix lettering style unique to this livery family. "Lufthansa" appears in standard blue Lufthansa corporate font on the lower forward fuselage. The vertical stabilizer is solid black with the Star Alliance logo — five interlocked metallic silver stars — centred on the fin. Engine nacelles are light grey. Four CFM56 engines are carried in standard under-wing pods in two pairs. Classic flat wingtips carry no winglets. All landing gear is deployed; a small German tricolour flag is present near the registration on the rear fuselage.
Model Craft & Collectible Value
JC Wings XX20151 renders D-AIGV in 1:200 diecast metal. The A340-300 mould at 1:200 spans 31.85 cm in length and 30.15 cm in wingspan — among the largest footprints of any commercial airliner in this scale. The Star Alliance livery was applied to a limited number of Lufthansa aircraft and represents the alliance's identity in the early widebody era before the livery was phased out in favour of full Lufthansa branding. D-AIGV specifically carries MSN 325 and the name "Dinslaken," verifiable through Lufthansa's named-city convention for this fleet series.
