VT-IKY, MSN 3930, was built by Airbus in Hamburg and delivered new to Air France in June 2009, registered as F-GTAX. After serving Air France as a passenger A321-211 for over a decade, the airframe was withdrawn from service in 2020, ferried to Seletar, Singapore for Passenger-to-Freighter (P2F) conversion, and re-registered as VT-IKY before entering service with IndiGo CarGo in late 2023—one of the carrier's earliest converted freight aircraft. The P2F conversion adds a reinforced main-deck cargo door and removes passenger seating, creating a high-capacity narrow-body freighter suited to India's rapidly expanding domestic cargo market.
