A6-EHJ (MSN 933, A340-642X) was delivered to Etihad on 11 December 2008 — and never flew in standard Etihad livery. From its entry into service, the aircraft wore a special Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Formula 1 livery, refreshed with the new race year each season. By 2011 this had become an annual tradition: A6-EHJ was Etihad's rolling billboard for the Yas Marina Circuit. The aircraft served Etihad until October 2017, accumulating nine years of F1 seasons on its fuselage — 2009 through 2017 — before being transferred to Plus Ultra as EC-NFP in November 2019.

Livery & Visual Details

The 2011 scheme runs white at the nose, transitioning into vibrant red across the mid-fuselage, fading to black with dynamic geometric red and silver racing-stripe patterns aft. "الاتحاد" (Etihad in Arabic) and "ETIHAD" appear in large silver-white lettering on the red section; "ABU DHABI GRAND PRIX 2011" follows in a separate line below. "Formula 1" appears in white on the dark aft section. The entire vertical stabilizer is covered in a black-and-white checkered flag pattern with the official F1 logo near the top. The four Rolls-Royce Trent 500 engines feature the F1 livery logo on their black nacelles. Wingtips are standard A340-600 raked tips.

Model Craft & Collectability

JC Wings released XX20852 in diecast alloy at 1:200 scale. The A340-600 is a large, visually dominant subject at this scale. This is the 2011-year version; XX20853 documents the 2012 livery on the same airframe, and earlier Eagle/other releases covered earlier seasons — making year-specific collecting of A6-EHJ F1 editions a well-established sub-hobby among Etihad and Formula 1 crossover collectors.
