B-2102 carries MSN 49141 (line number 1093), delivered to China Civil Aviation (CAAC) on 15 December 1983. This places the aircraft among the earliest MD-80 series jets to enter Chinese service. In May 1988, when China's civil aviation system reorganised into independent carriers, B-2102 transferred to the newly formed China Eastern Airlines. In September 2000 the aircraft was sold to Spirit Airlines as N817NK, ending its China operating career. It was scrapped at Victorville, California in 2006. The CAAC era represents this aircraft at its historically most significant configuration.

Livery & Visual Details

The model carries CAAC's classic white-and-blue scheme. A deep-blue cheatline runs the full length of the fuselage at window level. The CAAC winged emblem in blue and the title "C.A.A.C." appear on the forward fuselage; "中国民航" in blue Chinese characters runs vertically on the upper fuselage and on the tail. The vertical stabiliser is grey with a red rudder bearing five yellow stars — a representation of the Chinese national flag. Registration B-2102 appears in blue near the tail. Two rear-mounted Pratt & Whitney JT8D-217A engines flank the T-tail; the nacelles carry "McDonnell Douglas SUPER 80" text. No winglets — straight wing tips. Rolling gear deployed.
