YV-83C (MSN 496) is a Convair CV-580, a twin-turboprop developed by converting the piston-powered CV-340/440 airframe to Allison 501-D13 turboprop power. This aircraft flew with Avensa — Aerovías Venezolanas S.A. — Venezuela's flag carrier for much of the 20th century, with YV-83C photographed in active Avensa service as late as February 1988 at Porlamar's Del Caribe International Airport. Avensa operated the CV-580 on domestic Venezuelan routes connecting Caracas with secondary cities, where the type's short-field capability and reliability made it a workhouse for decades.
