1:200 Diecast: American Airlines Airbus A300-600R N70074 "Polished Metal" (JC Wings XX20013)

N70074 carries MSN 517, an Airbus A300B4-605R delivered to American Airlines on 28 June 1989. The aircraft flew American's medium-to-long-haul domestic routes — particularly the carrier's high-density transcontinental and Latin American corridors where the A300-600R's twin-aisle cabin delivered competitive economics. N70074 operated for two decades before American stored the aircraft in August 2009 as the carrier began retiring its A300 fleet; the airframe was subsequently scrapped in 2011. Two General Electric CF6-80C2A5 engines powered the aircraft. MSN 517 represents the mature production standard of the A300-600 series, Airbus's first twin-aisle widebody program.

Livery & Visual Details

The model reproduces American Airlines' iconic bare-metal polished livery — the carrier's signature scheme for decades, replicating the unpainted aluminum skin finish applied to the real aircraft. The fuselage presents a highly reflective, mirror-like metallic silver surface. The classic red-and-blue cheatline runs horizontally mid-fuselage: a thin dark blue stripe above, a broader red stripe, and a thin dark blue stripe below. The white dorsal spine continues onto the white vertical stabilizer, which carries the dual "AA" logo — the left "A" in red, the right "A" in blue, each containing the stylized eagle-head design in the letterform's negative space. A small American flag appears near the top leading edge of the fin. The word "American" is rendered in the classic italicized red script above the cheatline. The A300-600R's wingtips are flat, with no winglet or sharklet extensions — a defining visual characteristic of this pre-winglet widebody generation. The cockpit surround and radome are dark gray. The model includes a display stand.

Model Craft & Collectability

JC Wings item XX20013 at 1:200 scale in diecast metal with stand. The polished-metal American Airlines A300-600R is a staple of classic American livery collections: the AA bare-metal scheme was retired in 2013, and any A300-600R in this livery represents a type-and-livery combination that no longer exists in the active fleet. N70074's MSN 517 is a mid-sequence 605R, placing it within American's core A300 fleet era.
