1:400 Diecast: Air New Zealand Boeing 777-300ER ZK-OKU Flaps Down (JC Wings XX40646A)

ZK-OKU, MSN 36157, is a Boeing 777-367ER — the Cathay Pacific long-range sub-variant of the 777-300ER — that first flew in December 2008 as Cathay Pacific B-KPJ. After Cathay Pacific retired the airframe, Air New Zealand acquired it and took delivery as ZK-OKU on 17 November 2023, adding it to a fleet that relies on the type for transpacific routes to Los Angeles and long-haul services to London. The aircraft is powered by two General Electric GE90-115BL2 engines, the highest-thrust turbofan in commercial service. JC Wings XX40646A captures the aircraft in a flaps-extended landing configuration.

Livery & Visual Details

The fuselage is crisp white with grey wings and horizontal stabilizers. "AIR NEW ZEALAND" is displayed in bold black uppercase lettering along the forward fuselage. The vertical stabilizer is white, featuring the airline's iconic black Koru — a Māori fern frond spiral — as the sole tail marking. A Star Alliance roundel appears below the cockpit windows. The registration ZK-OKU is printed in black on the rear fuselage. Wingtips are raked — the swept-back style standard on the 777-300ER, without vertical winglets. Engine nacelles are white with metallic silver intake lips and visible GE fan blades.

Model Craft & Collectibility

JC Wings cast this at 1:400 in diecast metal with flaps deployed, representing an approach or landing configuration. The XX40646A suffix distinguishes this flaps-down release from any clean-config variant. ZK-OKU's history as a former Cathay Pacific 777-367ER before joining Air New Zealand adds a dual-carrier story that appeals to collectors of both airlines.
