Delivered in April 2019, ZK-MVX operates for Mount Cook Airline (Air New Zealand's regional arm) out of Christchurch, connecting communities that would otherwise be hours apart by road. It wears the classic Air NZ look—clean white fuselage with black trim, and that beautiful Māori koru spiral on the tail that symbolizes new life and growth.

The routes this plane flies read like a map of New Zealand's South Island: Christchurch (CHC), Wellington (WLG), Nelson (NSN), Invercargill (IVC), Palmerston North (PMR). It's the workhorse that keeps regional New Zealand moving.

• ZK-MVA (November 2025): Suffered an in-flight engine shutdown en route from Auckland to Nelson, turned back to Auckland without incident.
• ZK-MVL (September 2024): The dramatic one—on approach to Wellington at just 300 feet, got engine fault and fire warnings. The crew declared a mayday, landed safely, and evacuated everyone. No serious injuries, and the Transport Accident Investigation Commission opened an inquiry to learn from it.

Powered by Pratt & Whitney Canada PW127M engines (2,750 shaft horsepower each), these ATRs seat 68-74 passengers and can fly 825 nautical miles—all while emitting 45% less CO2 than regional jets. ZK-MVX is one of four in the fleet (JA11HC through JA14HC), and now you can own it in miniature.
