HL8394 is an Airbus A321-251NX(LR) — the long-range variant of the A321neo family fitted with the CFM LEAP-1A engine. MSN 9289 first flew on May 15, 2020, and was delivered to Air Busan on June 24, 2020, on lease from ACG. The A321LR's extended-range capability has made it the backbone of Air Busan's expansion beyond South Korea's domestic market into medium-haul routes across Northeast and Southeast Asia.
