VH-ZNF is among Qantas's frontline long-haul Boeing 787-9s, carrying manufacturer serial number 36239 (Line Number 742). It was delivered to Qantas on 17–18 August 2018 — first flight 10 August 2018 — and entered service on intercontinental routes including Perth–London Project Sunrise sector trials and the Sydney–Dallas/Fort Worth route. In June 2022, VH-ZNF operated the inaugural Perth–Rome service as QF5, one of the world's longest commercial routes at the time. The 787-9 variant seats 236 passengers at Qantas in a three-class configuration (Business, Premium Economy, Economy) and is powered by two General Electric GEnx-1B76 turbofans identifiable by their chevron-notched exhaust nozzles.

Livery & Visual Details

The model wears Qantas's current livery: white fuselage with "QANTAS" in deep red-grey on the upper forward cabin, and "Spirit of Australia" in smaller script aft of the overwing exit. The vertical stabiliser is a solid deep red carrying the white flying kangaroo. "DREAMLINER" appears in silver on the lower aft fuselage. GEnx-1B chevron nozzles are clearly visible at the rear of both engine nacelles — the scalloped exhaust edges are a defining visual detail of the 787 family.
