B-6138 is an Airbus A380-841 carrying MSN 54, test-registered F-WWAX. The aircraft first flew on 12 August 2011 and was delivered to China Southern Airlines on 29 February 2012. China Southern operated five A380s total, deploying them primarily on high-density routes including Guangzhou–Los Angeles and Guangzhou–Sydney. B-6138 was the last of the five to be retired, arriving at Mojave for storage in December 2022. The A380-841 variant is powered by four Rolls-Royce Trent 970 engines.

Livery & Visual Details

The fuselage is white with a wide dark navy blue stripe along the lower window line, bordered above by a thinner light blue line. The vertical stabilizer is light blue carrying the Kapok flower logo in red — China Southern's signature emblem. Chinese characters "中国南方航空" appear on the forward upper fuselage alongside "CHINA SOUTHERN" in black. "AIRBUS A380-800" is printed in small text below the window line near the wings. The four Trent 970 nacelles are white with a silver intake ring and a visible light blue band inside the fan cowl. The A380's characteristic blended winglets are white with a light blue triangular accent on the underside leading edge.
