1:400 Diecast: China Eastern Cargo MD-11F B-2172 "Interactive Series" (HX Models M111102C)

B-2172 is one of China Eastern Airlines' original McDonnell Douglas MD-11F freighters, delivered on 22 May 1992 with manufacturer serial number 48496 (Line Number 496). The airframe spent its early career as a passenger MD-11 under China Eastern before conversion to freighter configuration, then transferred to the China Cargo Airlines subsidiary for long-haul cargo operations centred on Shanghai Pudong. The MD-11F is the pure-freighter derivative of the trijet, retaining the characteristic tail-mounted centre engine and the distinctive triple-slotted flap system, powered throughout its service life by three Pratt & Whitney PW4460 turbofans rated at 60,000 lbf each.

Livery & Visual Details

The model wears the classic China Eastern Cargo livery: white fuselage with the blue, red, yellow and green cheatline running the full length of the lower fuselage. "CHINA EASTERN" appears in blue on the upper forward cabin; Chinese characters reading "Zhongguo Dongfang Hangkong" are printed in red below the cheatline on the forward fuselage. "CARGO" is lettered in white on the dark-grey vertical stabiliser, which also carries the red-and-blue China Eastern roundel. Registration B-2172 is visible on the fuselage and under the horizontal stabiliser. The three PW4460 nacelles are finished in grey. The model features functioning cargo doors — a hallmark of the Interactive Series.

HX Models' Interactive Series designation indicates working cargo door mechanisms, allowing the nose or side freight doors to be opened for display. The 1:400 MD-11 tooling captures the wide-body trijet silhouette with the signature extended upper-deck fairing absent from the MD-11F. Item number M111102C.
