B-2171 holds the distinction of being China Eastern Airlines' first McDonnell Douglas MD-11, delivered on 24 May 1991 with manufacturer serial number 48495 (Line Number 461). The aircraft entered service as a passenger trijet before being converted to a full freighter (MD-11F) configuration in 2003, then transferred to China Cargo Airlines operations. Its first flight was recorded on 3 April 1991. The MD-11F derivative of the Douglas widebody trijet seats zero passengers, replaced by a main-deck cargo floor rated for standard 96-inch-wide pallets; three Pratt & Whitney PW4460 engines deliver the thrust.

Livery & Visual Details

The model carries the China Eastern scheme identical to the freighter fleet: white fuselage with the four-stripe cheatline in blue, red, yellow and green along the lower belly. "CHINA EASTERN" in blue on the upper forward fuselage; Chinese characters reading "Zhongguo Dongfang Hangkong" in red below. The tail is rendered in the airline's blue-and-red scheme. B-2171 registration appears on the rear fuselage. Three PW4460 nacelles in grey — the aft centreline engine is housed in the distinctive S-duct intake above the tail.
