N747EX (MSN RC501) is the Boeing 747-8F prototype, the aircraft that carried the entire 747-8 program into the air for the first time. On 8 February 2010 at 12:39 pm PST, N747EX lifted off from Runway 34L at Paine Field, Everett, Washington, completing a 3-hour 39-minute maiden flight that validated the stretched airframe and new GEnx-2B engines. N747EX remained Boeing's primary 747-8F test aircraft through the certification campaign before the type entered commercial service with Cargolux in October 2011.

Livery & Visual Details

Boeing 747-8 "House Colors" livery: white fuselage with a broad blue cheatline running the full length of the cabin. "BOEING" in dark gray on the lower forward fuselage. Large "747" numeral on the upper rear fuselage in blue outline. GEnx-2B turbofans with signature chevron exhaust nozzles on all four nacelles. Flaps extended in landing configuration. Rolling gear deployed. The 747-8's stretched upper deck and raked wingtip extensions are clearly rendered on the HX mold.
