VH-QOW carries MSN 4285, a Bombardier DHC-8-402 delivered to Sunstate Airlines (operating as QantasLink) on 7 January 2010. Named "Mornington," this aircraft operates on QantasLink regional routes across eastern and northern Australia. In early December 2023, Qantas unveiled a Christmas-themed special livery on VH-QOW, replacing the traditional reindeer with kangaroos pulling Santa's sleigh and giving the aircraft its seasonal nickname "Dasher-8." The scheme was a limited-time holiday livery for the 2023 season, released as a limited edition in both 1:500 and 1:200 scales simultaneously.

Livery & Visual Details

The fuselage is white. The vertical stabilizer is entirely red, carrying the white Qantas flying kangaroo logo. "QANTASLINK" appears in black capital letters on the forward fuselage. Running along the lower cabin is the Dasher-8 Christmas graphic: Santa Claus in a sleigh at the front, followed by a procession of bounding red kangaroos instead of reindeer, with scattered seasonal motifs continuing toward the tail. Registration "VH-QOW" in black appears near the rear fuselage. Black four-blade propellers carry yellow tips. "Q400" is printed in black near the top of the fin.
