1:200 Diecast: QantasLink Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 VH-QOW "Dasher-8" (Herpa 573337)

VH-QOW carries MSN 4285, a Bombardier DHC-8-402 that entered QantasLink service on 7 January 2010 under the name "Mornington." In early December 2023, Qantas applied the "Dasher-8" one-season Christmas livery to this aircraft, replacing the reindeer in Santa's sleigh with Australian kangaroos in a local holiday twist. Herpa released this 1:200 scale edition (573337) simultaneously with the 1:500 version (538084) as a limited-edition pair, giving collectors the option to display the same aircraft and event livery at a larger scale.

Livery & Visual Details

The fuselage is white. "QANTASLINK" appears in black capital letters on the forward fuselage below the cockpit windows. The vertical stabilizer is entirely red with the white Qantas flying kangaroo logo, and "Q400" is printed in black near the top of the fin. Running along the lower cabin is the Dasher-8 Christmas graphic: a Santa silhouette in his sleigh at the nose end, followed by red kangaroo silhouettes extending toward the tail, with additional seasonal motifs between the cabin windows. Registration "VH-QOW" in black is displayed near the rear fuselage. Black four-blade propellers carry yellow blade tips. A clear plastic display stand is included.

Herpa Wings 573337 is a diecast metal model at 1:200 scale. Wingspan: 142 mm. Packaging: 167 x 56 x 167 mm. Released as a limited dual-scale edition. The Dasher-8 was a single-season campaign, and both scale editions are discontinued, adding scarcity for Qantas and Q400 collectors.
