1:200 Diecast: Philippine Airlines Fokker 50 PH-PRG (Herpa Wings HE572811)

PH-PRG is a Fokker 50 (constructor's number MSN 20155) delivered to Philippine Airlines on 18 May 1989. PAL operated the aircraft on inter-island routes across the Philippine archipelago until 9 October 1999, when the type was retired as the carrier transitioned to an all-jet fleet—the last Fokker 50s were withdrawn after PAL described the turboprops as "uneconomical" compared to the Boeing 737-300 jets that replaced them. After leaving PAL's roster, PH-PRG transferred to Air Nostrum. PAL operated a fleet of eleven Fokker 50s from 1988 to 1999, making this registration one of a small production run of collector models capturing that era of Philippine inter-island aviation.

Livery & Visual Details

The fuselage is white with "Philippine" in dark script across the forward cabin. The lower rear fuselage carries the registration PH-PRG in dark block characters, above a small Philippine national flag decal. A dark navy stripe runs along the upper fuselage, widening into the tail. The vertical stabilizer features PAL's classic sun-and-flag design: a golden sunburst radiates from a dark navy base, with a solid red trailing edge. Each Pratt & Whitney Canada PW127B turboprop drives a six-bladed propeller with black blades tipped in gold/yellow. The horizontal stabilizers are plain white.

Model Craftsmanship & Collectibility

Herpa Wings produced HE572811 as a limited-edition release in their 1:200 series, representing the Fokker 50 on the Herpa Wings snap-fit metal mould. The model includes a display stand and rolling gear. It captures PAL's classic 1990s livery before the airline's fleet transformation—one of very few 1:200 diecast representations of Philippine Airlines' turboprop era.
