1:500 Diecast: Lufthansa Airbus A340-300 D-AIGW "Star Alliance" (Herpa 536851)

D-AIGW carries MSN 327, delivered to Lufthansa on 10 March 2000 and named Gladbeck. An Airbus A340-313 variant, it was subsequently transferred to Lufthansa CityLine before returning to Lufthansa mainline. One of four A340-300s in the fleet carrying the Star Alliance promotional livery, D-AIGW represents Lufthansa's long-haul commitment to the alliance founded in 1997. Herpa released this 1:500 model in September/October 2023 under item 536851.

Livery & Visual Detail

Overall white fuselage with the "STAR ALLIANCE" name in large dark grey dot-matrix lettering across the forward fuselage. The vertical stabilizer is solid black, bearing the five-pointed Star Alliance logo in white — the central collector identifier. Registration D-AIGW with Lufthansa crane logo and German flag visible below the cockpit windows. Upward-curved classic winglets at each wingtip, consistent with the A340-300 series. Four engine nacelles in uniform light grey beneath the wings. Anti-glare panel in black at the cockpit.

Model Craftsmanship & Collector Notes

Herpa Wings 1:500 diecast metal construction. Wingspan 121 mm. The Star Alliance promotional scheme is selectively applied to a small subset of Lufthansa's fleet; models depicting it are consistently sought by alliance-livery collectors. No display stand included.
