1:200 Diecast: LOT Polish Airlines Yakovlev Yak-40 SP-GEA (Herpa HE573139)

SP-GEA operated with LOT Polish Airlines — Polskie Linie Lotnicze — as part of the carrier's Yak-40 fleet, which entered the LOT roster from 1981. Configured for 24 passengers, the fleet served domestic routes and European regional ports, with the type's range even covering longer sectors to Morocco and Gibraltar. SP-GEA was retired from LOT service in 1994, subsequently passing to other operators before being broken up for spares in 2008. The Yak-40 entered Polish service in 1972; the registration SP-GEA with the "EA" sub-identifier is also stencilled near the cockpit. Herpa released this 1:200 model in January/February 2025 under item 573139.

Livery & Visual Detail

White fuselage with a dark blue cheatline running from the cockpit the length of the cabin. The stylized blue LOT crane logo on the forward fuselage and the vertical stabilizer; "POLSKIE LINIE LOTNICZE" in blue above the cheatline on the mid-fuselage. Blue radome nose cone. Horizontal stabilizer tips painted red — a subtle but accurate colour mark on the real aircraft. Wing surfaces in light grey. The registration SP-GEA appears in small blue text on the rear fuselage and in large dark grey lettering across the upper left wing surface, as visible on this model. "JAK 40" stencilled in blue beneath the central engine intake. Three rear-mounted turbofan engines: two in pylon nacelles flanking the rear fuselage, the third integrated into the tail structure with intake above. Conventional tapered wingtips with red accents — no winglets.

Herpa Wings 1:200 diecast metal. Wingspan 125 mm. The LOT Yak-40 represents a narrow slice of the Eastern European regional trijet category; SP-GEA is the registration selected for this initial Herpa release. Includes plastic display stand.
