9H-NCD carries MSN 1059 and was built in 2012. The aircraft is Malta-registered, owned by Mel Air — a charter operator affiliated with Air Nostrum — and operates under the Iberia Regional brand on Spanish domestic and European regional routes. Aviation photographers noted this airframe as the first ATR-72 to wear the full new Iberia Regional livery, making MSN 1059 a reference airframe for the updated color scheme. Prior to joining the Iberia Regional network, 9H-NCD served in Brazil before transferring to Mel Air.
